View Event PageThe rise of U.S. dating apps has fundamentally altered how members of the LGBTQ community find partners and connect to one another. In fact, nearly two-thirds of gay and lesbian couples in the U.S. met online.
Out in Tech and OkCupid will host a panel discussion with the brains behind some of these apps to discuss their design, how they target various pockets of our community, as well as their implications for privacy and inclusion.
The panel will be moderated by Kenneth Courtney, Director of Public Relations for Mobilizing Our Brother’s Initiative (MOBI).
Panelists will include:
Marcus Lofthouse: Chief Product Officer of OKCupid
Robyn Exton: Founder of the dating app, HER - one of the largest apps in the world for LGBTQ women, 1.5 million users in 55 countries use Her to connect with each other and their community
Naveen Kumar: New York-based writer and editor who covers entertainment, lifestyle, and sex and relationships. He has been featured in THEM, Vice, and the New York Times
Kelly Rakowski: Founder of Lex, one of the newest LGBTQ+ dating apps. The app was recently launched after largely being a popular Instagram page being known as Personals
Adam Cohen-Aslatei: Former Managing Director of GBTQ+ social application Chappy, Founder of S’Mores, a new dating app that ”looks to suspend physical attraction for something more”
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Panel begins 7:00 PM. Social at 8:00 PM.
