Out in Tech Chicago is excited to partner with Steppenwolf Theatre Company to celebrate Stonewall 50 with the show MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT*** starring Tarell Alvin McCraney, Academy Award winner for best writing adapted screenplay for the film Moonlight.

The evening will begin at 5:30PM with an open social for Out in Tech members (Eventbrite RSVP required) at the Merle Reskin Rehearsal Space next to Steppenwolf Theatre. There will be light food provided and an option of a cash bar. Steppenwolf representatives will also join us and we’ll learn more about the technical aspects of the show and the cultural significance it has for Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community and queer history across generations.
Steppenwolf Theatre Speakers will be sharing insight into the production and process of creating a show of LGBTQ+ historical significance in Chicago and how Steppenwolf has connected to the LGBTQ+ community and technology that has helped with that effort:
7:00pm, we’ll migrate next door – those who have purchased a ticket*** (sold out, attendees can purchase tickets for additional shows from 7/12-7/21 for $30 with code OUTANDBRAVE) will go to the Upstairs Theatre to see the preshow and performance* of MS. BLAKK or migrate to Steppenwolf’s Front Bar: Coffee & Drinks (21+) at 1700 N. Halsted.
*Attendees are responsible for purchasing their own tickets prior to the show. Performance will run 1hr 40 mins without intermission and no late seating.

Does Steppenwolf Theatre provide gender-neutral restrooms?
The gender–neutral bathrooms are located in out 1700/Front Bar space – but, are also within the building once the lobby is open. The restrooms in the Merle Reskin Rehearsal Space are also labeled as gender–neutral.

What’s the refund policy?
Only a RSVP via Eventbrite is required to attend the 5:30PM-7:00PM Open social portion of the event. As the event has limited space, please update your RSVP status if you are no longer able to attend to make room for more community members to attend.
