What is Qorporate all about?

  • Qorporate membership includes:

    ● At least five (5) job postings on outintech.com/jobs for twelve months
    ● Priority access to virtual and local IRL event hosting and speaking invitations
    ● Access to a private Slack channel in the Out in Tech Slack community
    ● Directory listing and logo inclusion on outintech.com/supporters
    ● Draft press release and talking points for announcing your support
    ● Named council delegate(s)
    ● Other add-on opportunities, such as sponsored external events and internal trainings

     

    How do you pronounce it?

    /ˈkôrp(ə)rət/ ← unless you’re a librarian or etymologist, this probably isn’t helpful

    Qorporate is pronounced **just like the word “corporate.”** The Q is our queer, fun spin on a word that has traditionally been associated with very serious people in suits peering over cubicles. Hard pass.

     

  • How does membership work?

    Companies of all shapes and sizes are welcome to join the council at the level that works for them. See outintech.com/sponsor for more info about how we typically partner with companies.

    They appoint a delegate who becomes the primary liaison between our two organizations, routing various opportunities and action items to the appropriate people or teams internally at their orgs. We also ask for a backup delegate so that we have a point of contact during leaves of absence, holidays, or if someone leaves without appointing a new delegate.

    We started with a founding cohort of thirty-five (35) companies in 2019. We’re now accepting new member companies on a rolling basis.

Qorporate How-Tos

  • Selecting your delegate

    Nominate someone to represent your company on Qorporate, Out in Tech’s corporate council:

    ● This person will function as the primary liaison between our two organizations
    ● They’ll route speaking opportunities, upcoming events, and announcements internally;
    ● Handle or coordinate w/ someone internally on job postings; and
    ● Attend our regular roundtables on various topics around diversity, equity, and inclusion
    ● Can be a recruiter, D&I professional, employee group leader, or anyone else you see fit
    ● Probably 1-2 hours/month time commitment
    ● You can swap out this person anytime by letting us know in writing at qorporate@outintech.com

    We encourage you to add the Out in Tech logo to recruiting materials, your careers and/or diversity pages on your website, and internal comms.

  • How to post jobs

    Complete the Job Post form

    What you’ll need to post a Job:

    1. Job Title
    2. Job Description
    3. Job Posted URL
    4. Locations
    5. Company
    6. Employment type/ Role
    7. Company Segment/ Department

    When done, click “Submit Job”. Within 24-48 hours, your job post will be available on the Out in Tech Jobs Board and you’ll receive an email confirmation that the job has been posted.

    If you have any trouble, email us at qorporate@outintech.com. Most Qorporate members are allocated 5 active job postings at any one time, and you can create new ones as often as you’d like!

    As you know, Pride doesn’t stop in June. We’re pleased to announce that our company is now a financial supporter of Out in Tech, the largest non-profit community of LGBTQ+ techies worldwide. We’ve joined Qorporate, Out in Tech’s corporate council, to recruit and retain top talent and learn from our peers in the industry.

    Here are the top 3 ways you can get involved:

    1) Join Out in Tech by visiting bit.ly/joinOIT. Membership is free and includes priority access to upcoming events, like fireside chats, virtual mixers for the QTBIPOC community, demo nights, and other ways to stay connected and make new friends. Everyone is welcome, including allies.

    2) Volunteer to build a website (Digital Corps) or mentor LGBTQ+ youth (Out in Tech U)

    Out in Tech invites our employees to one of their upcoming day-long build-a-thons. Hundreds of volunteers create dozens of WordPress dot com websites annually for LGBTQ+ activists around the world. They also run a youth mentorship program, pairing 200 youth and young adults with 200 mentors each year for an eight-week program.

    3) Join the Out in Tech Slack community (outintech.com/slack) for channels like #engineers-developers, #UIUX, and #food for all you banana-bread fanatics. We’re also a fan of their Instagram and LinkedIn feeds.
