With new technologies constantly emerging and changing the landscape of how people make purchases, Out In Tech is partnering with American Express to explore the future of digital payments. We’ll take a look at the various payment trends, including mobile payment systems (i.e. Apple Pay, Square, Beacon), peer-to-peer payments (i.e. Venmo, Google Wallet, Ribbon), and all-in-one digital credit cards (i.e. Coin, Stratos, Swyp) to get a peek at how these technologies are evolving, and how they’ll affect our wallets.

Alan Koenigsberg, Managing Director and Head of Multinationals North America, Corporate Banking, Bank of America Merrill Lynch
Alan Koenigsberg is Managing Director and Group Head of the corporate banking team which covers multinational companies at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Prior to his role at BofAML, Alan held a variety of positions in banking, marketing, and payments at JPMorgan and American Express both in the U.S. and in Europe.
Nik Sathe, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, American Express
Nik oversees enterprise architecture, information management and digital partnerships, Platform Engineering, as well as shared digital products, capabilities, and engineering. His organization also develops and drives the strategy and planning for next generation web, mobile, and Platform experiences including, foundational capabilities, analytics and governance for all public-facing American Express mobile, e-commerce and web properties and experiences. Nik joined American Express from Google, where he led engineering efforts for Google Wallet. Prior to that, he held several leadership positions at PayPal, leading the company’s technology organization to transform their payments platform.
Vrinda Menon, Managing Director, Operations Technology, Goldman Sachs
Vrinda is responsible globally for Margin and Collateral Management, Valuations, Client Asset Protection, Ledgers and Global Control. Until earlier this year, she was also responsible for Treasury Technology that covers payments. She also serves as Co-head of the Firmwide Asian Professionals network and member of the Technology Americas Diversity Committee.
Linette Lopez, Senior Financial Editor, Business Insider
Linette is the senior finance editor at Business Insider, which she joined in the summer of 2011 after graduating from Columbia University’s School of Journalism. She contributes to “Marketplace,” a radio show from American Public Media, and teaches as an adjunct professor at the Columbia School of Journalism.
Out in Tech is a non-profit organization that aims to unite LGBT individuals across technology-related industries and provide a community that supports all LGBTs in tech. Originally started in New York City, Out in Tech has almost 7,000 members and has hosted dozens of events since its inception in 2012. Now, Out in Tech is expanding to San Francisco and providing its unique brand of both social and educational events for the LGBT tech community.
