IRL: The Power of Appyness

Technology has always had the transformative power to connect individuals around the world and was hugely important in building the LGBTQ community. Out community became more visible and cohesive as we recognized our strength in numbers, creating safe spaces for us to engage with each other online and recognize that we were not alone.

Today, we share commutes, rate and review restaurants, set up dates and learn new skills – all through virtual platforms designed to physically bring people together. These interactions broaden and challenge people’s perspectives on race, gender, ethnicity, age and the LGBTQ community. This panel will (physically!) bring together the companies building these platforms and explore this old/new phenomenon of human interaction, community, and love.
